Opening of Phong Nha Wild Trail 2026: Promoting the image of the World Natural Heritage site
May 28, 2026 – The Phong Nha Wild Trail 2026 officially kicked off at the Volunteer Youth Monument Square in Phong Nha Commune, Quang Tri Province, attracting thousands of domestic and international athletes. The event further affirms Phong Nha - Kẻ Bàng's position as one of the premier destinations for sports tourism and experiential travel.
The opening ceremony took place in a vibrant atmosphere with the attendance of representatives from management agencies, the organizing committee, sponsors, along with a large number of athletes and local residents. An artistic performance showcasing the distinct cultural identity of the heritage region opened the series of race activities, contributing to promoting the image of Phong Nha's nature and people to domestic and international friends.
Phong Nha Wild Trail 2026 is held from May 28 to May 31, 2026, featuring 5 race distances: 5 km, 10 km, 20 km, 50 km, and 70 km. The running routes are designed to pass through various areas of primary forests, limestone mountains, streams, and famous tourist spots within Phong Nha - Kẻ Bàng National Park. This offers an opportunity for athletes to both conquer physical challenges and explore the unique ecosystem of the World Natural Heritage site.
More than just a sports competition, the Phong Nha Wild Trail also contributes to boosting local tourism development. During the event, numerous accommodation facilities, restaurants, and tourism services in the Phong Nha area recorded a significant surge in visitors. Many tourists combine participating in the trail run with sightseeing activities such as exploring Phong Nha Cave, Thiên Đường Cave, the Son River, as well as eco-tourism and community-based tourism products.
